Harry and Meghan threaten BBC with legal action over claims he did not consult Queen over use of ‘Lilibet’

Lawyers for Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have threatened legal action against BBC bosses over ‘false and defamatory’ reporting regarding the name of their new-born daughter.

BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond today quoted a senior Buckingham Palace source saying that the Queen was ‘never asked’ her opinion on the couple’s decision to name their new baby ‘Lilibet’ after her childhood nickname.

But a statement from Harry and Meghan immediately hit back, saying: “The Duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement, in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called.

“During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.”

This comes on the heels of Harry and William’s anger with the BBC over the controversial Panorama interview with their mother, Princess Diana.
