It’s over 20 years since Manchester United famously changed their strip at half-time because their grey shirts made it difficult for them to be picked out against the crowd.
But Italy’s Serie A has gone one better – banning predominantly green strips from the 2022 season because they clash with the grass!
The rule change has come after TV companies claimed green kits caused players to blend in with the background.
The rule will only apply to outfield players meaning goalkeepers can continue to wear green. Lazio’s green away strip from last season and Atalanta's Christmas tree design from 2019 would not meet the new rules. It is unclear how the rules will impact Sassuolo, who have a green and black striped home jersey.
