Japan’s biggest car maker and major Tokyo 2020 sponsor has announced it will not be airing TV ads related to the Games.
Toyota’s decision comes after polls found that the vast majority of Japanese citizens don’t want the games to go ahead due to the current status of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
The company’s president and other top executives have also said they will not be attending the opening ceremony later this week.
Meanwhile, two athletes from South Africa’s Olympic soccer team have tested positive for COVID-19 inside the Olympic Village.
