As Simon Cowell reveals there are no plans for another season of the X Factor, we look at some of the programme’s most successful contestants.
Olly Murs finished in second place in the 2009 final of the show and his debut single sold over 10 million records worldwide. Leona Lewis became the first female winner of the show back in 2006 and is regarded as one of the show's best vocalists. In 2015 she was revealed to be the second best-selling act from the X Factor, only behind One Direction.
Despite not winning the show, One Direction are the most successful X Factor contestants of all time. The group enjoyed global fame with multiple number one hit singles and sold-out tours globally.
Little Mix became the first-ever group to win the show in 2011 and have enjoyed global success since then.
