And it left the Oliver family in Faversham, Kent shell-shocked as the largest measured a staggering 8.5in around the long axis.
Samantha Oliver, 29, told Kentonline: “I’m just amazed. I have 10 chickens and two often lay double yolks, but I’ve never seen anything like this before.”
And her mind was totally scrambled when she cracked open the giant egg to find it contained a fully-formed normal-sized egg inside.
Too much egg-citement for one day!
