Climate activist Greta Thunberg called for action to fight climate change after a dire report from the UN science panel.
The environmental activist was speaking in response to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) warning that the world faced catastrophic consequences unless immediate action was taken to tackle global heating.
The 18-year-old tweeted: “It is up to us to be brave and take decisions based on the scientific evidence provided in these reports. We can still avoid the worst consequences, but not if we continue like today, and not without treating the crisis like a crisis.”
The report suggested that temperatures will exceed 1.5C above industrial levels within the next two decades unless fossil fuels are phased out.
