Charlie Watts, legendary drummer for The Rolling Stones, has died at age 80.
A spokesperson for Watts confirmed that he passed away peacefully in a London hospital surrounded by his family.
“Charlie was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and also as a member of the Rolling Stones one of the greatest drummers of his generation,” they said.
This news comes after it was announced that Watts would miss the Stones’ US tour to recover from a medical procedure.
Watts joined The Rolling Stones in 1963 and helped to propel the band to international superstardom.
