Swarms of large jellyfish are keeping locals and tourists out of the water in Crimea.
Thousands have washed up on the shore of a popular beach near Shcolkine village, due to the warm and dry weather that has dominated the region in recent years.
The dry weather reduces the amount of fresh water flowing from the rivers into the sea, making the seawater saltier and creating an ideal environment for the jellyfish.
Russian Institute of South Sea Biology researcher Sergei Alyomov said the large amounts of food in the Azov Sea would lead to the jellyfish quickly increasing their population.
