Actress Octavia Spencer has apologised after commenting on Britney Spears’ engagement announcement to get a prenup.
Spencer, 51, said she reached out privately to the Toxic singer, 39, to apologise for her “joke”.
Posting on Instagram, she explained: “A few days ago Sam and Britney announced their engagement and me being me, made a joke. My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain.
“I’ve reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologise and now want to restore a smidge of happiness they were robbed of.”
Spears’ fiancé appeared to find the remark funny, assuring they would be getting an “ironclad” prenup.
