The China funded Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) linking Kenya's capital Nairobi and the port city of Mombasa has boosted the economy and helped upgrade the lifestyles of people along its 480 kilometers corridor. Launched in May 2017, the SGR is one of the fruits to come out China's Belt and Road Initiative.
