Bad news for those who swear by drinking water to cure a hangover after a heavy drinking session, apparently it doesn’t actually make a difference.
A study conducted in the 1950s claimed that the more alcohol you drank, the more liquid your body would purge, resulting in dehydration and a hangover.
According to molecular biologist Patrick Schmidt however, the findings of that study were never actually confirmed and just accepted as fact.
After conducting his own tests, he found that while participants did lose some fluid, they remained hydrated after drinking.
He suggested drinking water instead of alcohol to cure a hangover.
