Businesses, including hospitality firms and theaters, in the UK are voluntarily shutting down as Covid-19 infections reach record highs. British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak echoed the prime minister saying "the situation is very different to what we've done and encountered before" since the government is not the one urging shutdowns.
