The highest priority for the Tongan government currently is to ensure water and food supplies for its people, said Lord Fatafehi Fakafanua, Speaker of Tonga's Legislative Assembly, on Saturday in New Zealand. During an interview with China Central Television (CCTV), he said due to volcanic ash contamination, about 2,000 people were still without access to drinking water in the western part of the main island of Tonga.
