Le cinéma sonore est né en 1926 grâce à la technologie du Vitaphone, commercialisé par la société Warner Bros. Le premier film a utilisé ce procédé est Don Juan. Le cinéma parlant, lui, est apparu la même année grâce à A Plantation Act, un film dans lequel on entend la célèbre phrase “Wait a minute you ain’t heard nothing yet.”
