Santiago (AFP) – “All of our strength is dedicated to this cause” says the president of Chilean copper giant Codelco, as rescue efforts continue to free five miners trapped by a collapse at one of the company’s mines. One worker was killed and nine others injured in the collapse on Thursday July 31, which occurred at Chile’s El Teniente underground copper mine, the largest in the world. The rescue work was entering a “critical 48-hour period,” adds Maximo Pacheco.
