Bordeaux (AFP) – After a weekend of demonstrations over the cost of living turned to violence and looting, people in France take stock of the damage. “We saw the shops being looted, the police forces powerless; it was basically a scene of horror,” says Estelle Piron, a shop manager in Bordeaux. French President Emmanuel Macron has slammed the “unbridled” violence, with Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu calling for curfews in some cities to prevent further unrest.
