Mecca (Saudi Arabia) (AFP) – With temperatures soaring during hajj, extreme heat remains the main challenge facing pilgrims in Mecca after over 1,300 died in 2024. “I had planned to perform all prayers inside the Grand Mosque, but I was unable to perform the prayers that coincide with when the sun is up,” says one pilgrim.
