Wangaratta (Australia) (AFP) – Australians are in shock as Australian lawmaker Helen Haines loses her leg after a vehicle attack outside her constituency office in Wangaratta. Haines was struck by a Toyota Land Cruiser in the town, about 200 kilometres (124 miles) northeast of Melbourne, at around 3:35 p.m. (0435 GMT), in what Prime Minister Anthony Albanese calls a “deliberate act”. “Shocked and disbelief that this has happened in our community, where Helen has been such an advocate for everybody,” says Ashley Rogers, a local resident.
