Paris (France) (AFP) – Nearly 1,000 people were arrested by police on the fringes of student protests and demonstrations against the high cost of living in France, says Interior Minister Laurent Nunez during a press briefing on Saturday evening — a number that has since risen to 1,314 according to the French interior ministry. Nunez pointed out that by the evening of October 17, a day marked by unprecedented violence and looting, 385 arrests had been made.
