Ed Sheeran has finally relented after four years without a mobile phone… but only so he could keep on top of test and trace.
The songwriter, 30, famously ditched his former phone in 2017 but has now splashed out £59.99 on a basic Nokia in order to satisfy quarantine conditions following foreign trips.
He said: “I’ve been doing promotion overseas and quarantine afterwards. The Government call you but I didn’t have a phone for them to call me on. They were really on me. I think they were trying to catch me out.”
He told pal Jessie Ware on her Table Manners podcast his new phone is unable to download social media applications and he doesn’t even know the password for his own TikTok account.
