Beijing (AFP) – China says that Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States are treading a “path of error and danger” after they unveiled a nuclear-powered submarines deal. “The latest joint statement from the US, UK and Australia demonstrates that the three countries, for the sake of their own geopolitical interests, completely disregard the concerns of the international communities and are walking further and further down the path of error and danger,” foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said Tuesday.
Burketown (Australia) (AFP) – Images posted on Facebook by the Queensland Police Service in Australia show a kangaroo joey being plucked out of floodwaters near the small community of Burketown in northeastern Australia as record-high floods hit the area. Murky water has inundated buildings in the town usually home to about 200 people. Police said the joey, dubbed “Lucky” by his rescuers, was found in water where crocodiles had also been spotted — and have warned locals to remain clear of the flooding.
