Biden makes vaccine or tests compulsory at companies of 100-plus employees

Washington (AFP) – US President Joe Biden says a “distinct minority of Americans” are to blame for preventing the United States from overcoming the pandemic during a speech from the White House on the nation’s fight against the Covid-19 Delta variant. He says he will mandate companies with 100 or more employees to vaccinate all workers or administer weekly Covid-19 tests in a new effort to defeat the surging Delta virus.

Los Angeles makes Covid vaccines compulsory for schoolkids in US first

Los Angeles (AFP) – The education board for the Los Angeles Unified School District, the second biggest in the US, votes that children aged 12 or over who attend public schools in the city will have to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by the start of next year. This is the first such requirement by a major education board in the US.

Israel’s blockade of the Palestinian enclave means however that it’s unlikely they’ll be able to leave the territory to compete.
