‘Systematic destruction’ of Ukraine’s energy supplies is a ‘war crime’ says German Justice Minister

Berlin (AFP) – German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann qualifies Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy supplies as “war crimes,” after a meeting between G7 justice ministers concerning war crimes in Ukraine. “People are left in their homes, in a winter that could possibly reach -30 degrees; then this is a terrible war crime. Winter is used as a weapon,” he states.

Dance classes give hope to Portuguese prisoners

Alcabideche (Portugal) (AFP) – At Linho prison, in the western suburbs of Lisbon, inmates take part in a contemporary dance workshop. Twice a week, the prison’s former chapel is transformed into a dance studio under the guidance of artist and teacher Catarina Câmara, who is also trained in psychotherapy. The “Corpoemcadeia” program seeks to prepare inmates for social reintegration and allows them, for the space of a few hours, to take their mind off their problems.

World’s largest volcano erupts in Hawaii

Mauna Loa (United States) (AFP) – Orange glow and ash spew from the world’s largest active volcano, Mauna Loa, in Hawaii.Pressure has been building at Mauna Loa for years, according to the United States Geological Survey, which reported the eruption could be seen from 72 kilometers away.
